James Skinner
Freelance Filmmaker, Multimedia Producer and Facilitator
James as over a decade of filmmaking experience that includes documentaries, animation and narrative shorts. He is is also a qualified Youth and Community Development Worker (BA Hons), specialises in providing film training in a range of educational settings.
He has always sought to address social issues through his films, and specialised in this through an MA in Media Practice for Development and Social Change (Uni. of Sussex). His narrative short films include The Last Kick (2020) and Fabulous (2020) which was the winner of the DepicT! competition at Encounters Film Festival (an Oscar and BAFTA qualifying festival).
His documentaries have explored topics such as dementia (‘Young at Art’, 2018), the Israel/Palestine conflict (‘Stars of Bethlehem’, 2015) and remote tribes in Papua New Guinea (‘Songs of Simbai’, 2016).

James is currently developing a slate of short films and is working towards his debut feature.
